Just over 600 riders took part in the Whiskey Off-Road mountain bike races April 26-28 through the terrain just west of Prescott, an annual event that brings spectators, vendors, live music and more fun to the community. Day 1 featured overcast skies which allowed nearly everyone to finish the “15 Proof” 19-mile course, but a late-day downpour canceled the Pro Fat Tire Crit race downtown. This ended up creating ideal trail conditions for Day 2’s races and the podium ceremony. Day 3’s sunniness welcomed the Shimano-MTB kids ride and the Backcountry Pro challenge, with Keegan Swenson and Alexis Skarda taking the top trophies.
As usual the Whiskey Off-Road was a collaborative event between many organizations within the Greater Prescott community, with the Yavapai Amateur Radio Club (YARC) enabling constant communication between organizers, aid stations and EMTs.
