Arizona Christmas City organizers for Prescott’s annual holiday attractions in downtown Prescott have created a fun-filled season in Everybody’s Hometown.
Saturday, Dec. 2, Prescott’s 41st annual Christmas Parade and 69th annual Courthouse Lighting. The parade will be 1 to 3 p.m. and leads up to the arrival of Santa. Kids can visit with Santa on the Courthouse Plaza after the parade until 5 p.m.
The Courthouse Lighting will be 6 to 6:30 p.m. Christmas music starts at 5 p.m.; fireworks follow the lighting. Free shuttle pick-up is at the Prescott High School, 1050 Ruth St. in Prescott.
The 35th annual Acker Night will begin at 5 p.m., Dec. 8 on Gurley Street. This is the night people stroll through downtown Prescott, taking in the holiday lights and listening to live music from more than 500 performers. More than 100 businesses open their doors to these volunteer musicians with the shared goal of keeping music alive for local school kids.
Tips to artists provide music lessons and instruments to local youth and support school music programs. A free shuttle service is provided from Frontier Village Shopping Center off of AZ-69.
Next up is the 2nd annual Christmas Village & Christkindl Market. Inspired by a centuries-old European tradition, it features holiday gift items from more than 20 local vendors, German-style foods and a beer and mulled wine garden.
The Christkindl Angel returns to host the event, which includes outdoor amusement rides, Christmas music, visits with Santa and Clydesdale horse-drawn wagon rides. The event will be open Friday, Dec. 15 from 4 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 16 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on west Goodwin Street in downtown Prescott. Admission is free.
The 13th annual New Year’s Eve Boot Drop will be Sunday, Dec. 31. This jubilant celebration on Montezuma Street starts at 7:30 p.m. and goes until 12:30 a.m. New Year’s Day. Participants can count down as the 6-foot, lighted cowboy boot is lowered from the Palace Building.
The event features live music with Phoenix band Friendly Jesture, fireworks, food trucks, carnival and giveaways.
All the Arizona Christmas City events are presented by Desert Financial Credit Union, Friends of the Jersey Lilly, and Experience Prescott Office of Tourism. Additional support is provided by more than 60 local businesses.
