Presented by the Yavapai Symphony Association, the Arizona State University Symphony Orchestra returned to Yavapai College Performing Arts Center Feb. 12, 2023 to perform a challenging and diverse program chosen to help emerging professional musicians develop a wide range of skills. The students heralded the beginning of the spring by performing Lili Boulanger’s “D’un matin de printemps” (“Of a Spring Morning”) and followed it up with Rimsky Korsakov’s “Capriccio Espagnol,” a virtuosic fantasy on Spanish themes. The talented students concluded their concert with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, a powerful contemplation on the inescapable nature of fate. The orchestra provides students with intensive orchestral training and is considered one of the top programs of its kind in the U.S.
