Did you know that Prescott Public Library has a subscription to Ancestry.com? Accessible inside the library only, you can browse Ancestry’s databases, yielding search results from a variety of sources including: birth, marriage and death records; census records; city directories; newspaper obituaries; and more.
Your search could result in photographs from yearbooks or scanned pages from city directories, including information such as addresses and with whom they lived. If you are researching your family’s history, you never know what small information could be useful. For instance, one patron didn’t know how her great grandparents met, but viewing the 1910 census in Ancestry.com helped her discover that her great grandmother (and her family) was the next-door neighbor of her great grandfather’s brother (and his family).
Your library card also allows you to use two additional genealogy databases online from anywhere: Heritage Quest (for general genealogy research) and Fold3 (for U.S. military-based genealogy research).
