On June 7, community members gathered at Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary for the official ribbon cutting of the zoo’s long-awaited new bear enclosure.
Hosted in partnership with the Prescott Chamber of Commerce, the event introduced visitors to Koda and Sedona, two young black bears rescued from the Crown King area. Guests had the opportunity to see the new habitat and learn more about the bears’ story as the sanctuary celebrated the completion of a project years in the making.
The new enclosure marks an important milestone for the sanctuary, which provides lifelong care for rescued wildlife while educating visitors about Arizona’s native animals and the importance of conservation. The habitat gives Koda and Sedona a permanent home where guests can watch the playful bears grow.
Zoo staff and supporters celebrated the community effort behind the project and encouraged residents and visitors to purchase season passes and return often to follow Koda and Sedona’s journey. The ribbon cutting highlighted the continued support that helps Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary further its mission of wildlife rescue, education and conservation.
