When most people think of REALTORS®, they picture open houses, For Sale signs and busy negotiations. But behind the scenes, many of these professionals are rolling up their sleeves to give back in ways that go far beyond real estate.
In fact, seven out of 10 REALTORS® volunteer in their communities every month. That’s three times more than the average American. Many also give to local charities, proving that service is woven into the fabric of their profession.
From local projects to national initiatives like the REALTORS® Are Good Neighbors Volunteer Days, members are urged to lend their time and talents to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Boys & Girls Clubs. Next year’s volunteer week is set for May 30 to June 7, when REALTORS® nationwide come together to make a difference.
Here in Prescott, the Prescott Area Association of REALTORS® (PAAR) has embraced that mission wholeheartedly.
Each year, REALTORS® assemble Caring Bags for Meals on Wheels recipients, filling them with blankets, sanitizer, puzzle books and other thoughtful items. These bags are compiled and hand delivered by local members with a smile. This year, PAAR also teamed up with the Women’s Council of REALTORS® Prescott Area to co-host a Watson Lake cleanup, where volunteers hauled away bags of trash to keep one of the city’s most beloved parks pristine.
The giving doesn’t stop there. PAAR also runs a nonprofit called Caring PAARtners that provides emergency financial assistance to REALTOR® members facing life’s unexpected challenges, from medical hardships to property damage. Each holiday season, PAAR invites the entire community to join in its annual Coats for Kids and Tennies for Tots drives. From warm coats and gloves to shoes and socks, donations collected at the PAAR office help ensure local children are bundled up and ready for winter.
For REALTORS®, giving back isn’t just a side project — it’s part of who they are. Whether they’re helping families find their dream homes or pitching in at a community event, REALTORS® are showing every day that their true business is building stronger, more connected communities.
