Benefit Prescott Kids!
Summer programs for children at the library are not only free, but robust and varied! Besides the standard favorite events like Storytimes, book clubs, book battles, and performers like Wildman Phil, we offer other unique activities because of partnerships with community groups.
One partnership we value greatly is with our Prescott Art Docents. For many years, the Art Docents ran an Art in June program for children where they introduced a variety of artists and then created art projects using artistic tools and techniques. For the past two summers, Prescott Art Docents have taken an active role during our weekly drop-in crafts on Tuesdays and bring their creative projects to many more children.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s STEM Outreach is another community partnership we have worked with and enjoyed during our summer programming. For the last three years, ERAU’s STEM Outreach has provided STEM kits and science programming for children. This summer’s science line up included a program with telescopes and learning more about the sun. The second science program, learning to detect electricity in space, will be held on Thursday, July 27 at 2pm. After each program, ERAU provides STEM kits for participants to take home and practice what they’ve learned.
Prescott Public Library families and kids reap great benefits from these wonderful partnerships. We look forward to many more summers with both these organizations to provide educational, fun, and quality programming for the children in our Prescott community.
