Local Business Spotlight: Outdoor Adventure

June 1, 2021

Greater Prescott is a giant playground for outdoor recreation where you can walk, hike, bike, fish, hunt, boat, kayak, rock climb, off-road, camp, snowshoe, go to the zoo and so much more!
Its stunning scenery and fortuitous weather means you can always find something to do that brings you closer to the wild world and its sun, wind, trees, flowers, wildlife and water.
Naturally, there’s a lot of stores and services for us to choose from when we gear up for the next adventure, depending on what we’re choosing to do. Many choose a specialty to take a deep dive into and provide expertise their customers will truly benefit from, making their next escapade a little more fulfilling and less hazardous.
You can turn to any of these businesses for reliable service and equipment to put you in the right place for any journey into the natural world!

The Hike Shack

This year The Hike Shack will be celebrating its 10 year anniversary with the new ownership and in the current location. There are three female owners who are all from local Prescott families and have been hiking, biking, climbing, paddling, and living in Prescott for years.
The Hike Shack is filled with outdoor enthusiasts who are here to help you get outside and play. The brands are chosen for their durability, integrity, their customer service, and their ability to help people in whatever adventure they are taking. Nature is good for the soul. In such a crazy COVID world we are living in, taking time to enjoy the world around us is even more important. The Hike Shack has the staff and the gear to outfit your next journey.
The Hike Shack is open Monday-Saturday 9-5 and Sundays 10-6.

Doug found a small garage to rent, accessible only from the alley of Miller Valley Road. Thus, Back Street Bicycle Works began as an experiment.
In 1977 the shop was moved to a larger building and became High Gear Bike Shop, which is now located on Sheldon and Mount Vernon streets.
