Once a year during National Library Week, we make a special effort to celebrate libraries, the wonderful staff who work there and the role they play in strengthening communities and transforming lives. This year, National Library Week takes place April 7-13. The first National Library Week was held in 1958 and is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association as well as libraries of all types across the country. This year’s theme is “Ready, Set, Library!” This theme promotes the idea that libraries give us the green light to connect with others, learn new skills and much more. No matter where you happen to be on your life’s journey – starting a new career, raising a family or settling into retirement, the library can provide a place where everyone is welcome.
This month, we invite you to celebrate National Library Week with us at the Prescott Farmer’s Market on Saturday, April 6, where library staff will be sharing information about the library, issuing new library cards, giving out a fun craft-to-go project for adults and we will have a special visit from a costumed character for children, Biscuit the Dog! Biscuit the Dog will also join us for storytimes at the library during the week of April 7-13.
