The 14th edition of the Prescott Film Festival is hitting the trail a little early this year, bringing its signature blend of horse movies, foreign cinema, world premieres, behind-the-scenes seminars and celluloid-themed soirees to Yavapai College’s Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center, Wednesday, July 17 through Saturday, July 20.
“We’re doing our part to keep this summer interesting,” Prescott Film Festival Director Helen Stephenson says. “So look for us right after the rodeo — and right before the Summer Olympics — to bring Prescott the latest and greatest in modern film.”
The move is, in part, an effort to maximize the draw of Prescott’s tall pines and gentle temperatures to a statewide community that is usually slow-cooking by mid-July.
“We are the perfect summer getaway!” Stephenson says. “Escape the heat and enjoy our small-town vibes, historic downtown and the best of the best of indie films!”
The Prescott Film Festival lineup will include Robert Shields: My Life as a Robot, a documentary chronicling the Sedona resident and legendary mime of Shields & Yarnell and will screen at the festival, with Robert Shields and the filmmakers in attendance.
The festival offers workshops and will include an acting seminar with Improv and network television actor Sean Dillingham; survivalist/reality show veteran Cody Lundin discussing the role of an independent television producer; and professional stuntman Gary Montana sharing insights from his storied career.
