We are celebrating our 22nd year this year presenting musicians from throughout the U.S., Arizona and our own Greater Prescott area.
Friday’s 7 p.m. “Jazz Goes to Broadway” concert will be at the Elks Theater. Saturday’s 7 p.m. Big Band concert will be at Ruth Street Theater at Prescott High School. There also will be free workshops open to all ages 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the school.
On Sunday there will be a morning jazz brunch concert 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM and an afternoon jazz concert 2:00 to 4:00 PM, both at the Hassayampa Inn. There will be a jam session at Murphy’s Restaurant at 6:30 PM.
Many of these musicians have performed with the biggest stars in the entertainment business, such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, The Blues Brothers, The David Letterman Show, June Christy, Anita O’Day, Toni Tennille, Cab Calloway, Joe Williams, and the big bands of Glenn Miller, Harry James, Jimmy Dorsey, Woody Herman, and Stan Kenton.
The Jazz Summit is very involved with music education and has sponsored musicians to perform and do workshops in schools all over Arizona. We have reached more than 4,000 students over the years.
We also give scholarships for deserving students to attend summer music camps and have donated funds to many school music departments.
Our goal is to present enjoyable music in a relaxed atmosphere. One of the favorite aspects for our audiences is the interplay between the audience members and the musicians.
