Located in Prescott Valley, Nellie’s BBQ brings central Texas craft-style barbecue to Arizona. Andy Gottman, the pitmaster, has spent the last 10 years in central Texas honing his meat smoking skills.
The doors to Nellie’s BBQ opened in October 2023 offering 38 seats for in-house dining along with outdoor tables for the warm sunny days. Take-out orders also are available. Nellie’s offers a variety of smoked meat options such as: brisket, pulled pork, turkey, baby back ribs and sausages (garlic or jalapeño pepper jack cheese).
Meats are slow-smoked over oak firewood for hours making the meat tender and flavorful. The sides are made in-house and include smoked baked beans, potato salad, sweet coleslaw, creamed corn, mac n cheese and applesauce. Cornbread or Texas toast also are available.
Nellie’s BBQ offers two burger options: a regular burger or the brisket burger (smoked brisket combined with the burger meat). Nellie’s fan-favorite menu item is brisket. It spends 20-plus hours over the heat creating the tender, moist, smoked flavor. Meal options include sandwiches, combo plates, family packs and meat by the pound.

Smoking meat has been a practice for centuries. Not only does it add flavor, but it helped to preserve meat before the days of refrigeration existed. Nellie’s BBQ partners with some of the best suppliers such as K4 Gourmet Beef in Prescott and Southside Market in Elgin, Texas. The restaurant uses locally sourced products whenever possible.
Nellie’s BBQ offers catering as well. Catering orders can be picked up or delivered (for a fee). Food can be provided for weddings, corporate events, business luncheons, awards ceremonies, family gatherings, sporting events such as Super Bowl, Final Four, World Series parties, etc. If you can plan it, Nellie’s BBQ can supply the food for it.
