Prescott Now: How long have you guys been playing together?
The Copper State Band: We’ve been around since 2019.
Prescott Now: What genre or genres of music do you play? What about them inspires you?
The Copper State Band: We are a country western band through and through. The stories that are only found in country music are such a draw for us, and it’s really what people in this area love to listen to.
Prescott Now: What is the key to being a successful musical act in Prescott and Northern Arizona?
The Copper State Band: Well, we pride ourselves on our professionalism. That means our punctuality, communication, our demeanor and our show itself! We take our sound very seriously, and we also do our absolute best to cooperate with every venue we play at.
We do this because good relationships build a good reputation, and a good reputation gets us invited back. Not only that, but word spreads to other venues.
Prescott Now: What’s the smallest audience you’ve ever played for; the biggest?
The Copper State Band: As a group we think the smallest crowd was maybe 30 or so? But we actually had the opportunity in 2019 to play at a country/bluegrass-inspired event at Symphony Hall in Phoenix. There we played four consecutive nights to a packed house. That’s nearly 10,000 people in total! Truly a memorable experience that we cherish.
Prescott Now: Where do you find the inspiration for your songwriting or performances?
The Copper State Band: Well, we love putting on a good show. We think of artists like Garth Brooks, who use the whole stage and really engage with an audience. We try to do that the best we can with the stages we play on.
When a crowd can see that the band is having fun, they have more fun. And when a crowd gets to sing along and dance to their favorite country songs, it’s mission accomplished for us. It’s all about the energy.
Prescott NOW: What brought you to Prescott?
The Copper State Band: Prescott is such a beautiful area to begin with. We all love spending time there aside from performing. But when it comes to live music in Arizona, Whiskey Row is at the top of the list. Some of the best Arizona bands come through the venues downtown, and we are so fortunate to be among them. It’s the best place to have a good time, eat great food and listen to great music.
