Three of Ireland’s greatest tenors brought their voices together in The Irish Tenors: A Family Christmas on Dec. 19 in the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center Yavapai College’s Prescott Campus.
The Irish Tenors have been the acknowledged Celtic music kings since they burst upon the scene with an Irish television special in 1998. Anthony Kearns, Ronan Tynan and Declan Kelly captured the hearts of their home country, and then the world, with soaring vocals and layered harmonies that brought the power and the poignancy of Irish culture to life.
Their breakthrough led to an American TV special, Live from Ellis Island hosted by Martin Sheen, and a 26-year love affair with the United States.
A generation later, the talented trio is still going strong. With 10 best-selling CDs to their credit, The Irish Tenors have filled America’s most prestigious venues — Carnegie Hall, Radio City, Madison Square Garden and The Hollywood Bowl.
The Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center celebrated the Irish Tenors with a special, Celtic-themed pre-show dinner on the PAC Mezzanine where Irish stew with lamb, carrots and potatoes; an Irish Pub salad of lettuce, watercress and picked beets; and a dessert of Guinness chocolate cake was served.
