This year, Prescott Public Library will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of our building on Goodwin Street along with over 100 years of service to the Prescott community. Our celebration isn’t only about a location or remembering various improvements to the building, but also about celebrating what makes the Prescott Public Library great: you!
We want to know how the Prescott Public Library has played a part in your life during the past 50 (or more!) years. Perhaps you grew up with the library and enjoyed storytime or looked forward to participating in summer programs. Maybe a librarian got you hooked on a favorite book series or helped you find crucial information when you needed it.
Has the library helped you in a memorable chapter of your life? We want to hear your stories. Do you have photographs that include the library or a library program? We would love to see them. Reach out to us via email to share your story and photos at
ask.librarian@prescott-az.gov. Please include your name and contact information. You can also submit your stories to the online form linked in the “news” area of our website home page.
If you aren’t sure what story to share, we have compiled some story prompts to help you get started. Please don’t feel limited to these ideas, you are welcome to share whatever you would like.
You may consider: “The library changed my life by…” “My favorite library memory is…” “The first time I visited the library…” “What I like most about the Prescott Public Library is…”. Please note that submitting a story or photo grants permission for Prescott Public Library to share your story through any media format.
We also invite you to celebrate this milestone of service to our community by taking part in our Library Passport program for youth and adults from April 6 – May 30, where you can earn stamps in a library passport book by attending events, checking out items and more. Redeem your passport stamps for tickets to win prizes at Fest in the West, a big anniversary celebration taking place May 30 from 5 to 8 p.m.
For more information on library programs or how you can submit your story, visit or call the Ask a Librarian desk at 928.777.1526.
