Every year, the library looks forward to preparing for a fun summer of reading for youth and adults alike. Through engaging programs, activities, tasks and rewards, summer reading programs help make or reignite reading as a lifelong habit, maintain and increase reading skills and generate interest in both the library and books.
Prescott Public Library is excited to kick off this year’s summer reading program, Unearth a Story, on May 21. The reading program extends through July 25 and is free, fun and encourages reading all summer long.
Youth Summer Reading Program:
Beginning June 1, log your reading minutes to earn cool prizes! Sign up in one of three ways:
• Sign up at the Youth Desk and receive a paper reading log to track your minutes.
• Sign up and log your minutes online at prescottpl.beanstack.org.
• Get the Beanstack app, then sign up and log your minutes through the app.
Youth Events
Throughout June and July, youth are invited to a number of interactive entertainment opportunities including Magician Eric Gilliam, Wildman Phil, Taiko Drumming, a dinosaur encounter and more.
Get creative with crafts and enjoy a wide variety of other activities from story times to STEM activities and beyond.
The fun culminates in the Summer Reading Finale with the BubbleManiacs on the library lawn at 11 a.m. on July 25.

Adult Summer Reading Program
From June 1 to July 25, adults 19 and older can collect stamps in a special treasure diary by completing a variety of challenges and puzzles to unravel the mystery of a local lost gold mine, explore Arizona history and celebrate the 250th birthday of America.
Treasure diaries and stamps can be collected at the Ask a Librarian desk on the second floor of the library. Patrons who collect at least one stamp will earn a gift card to the Friends of the Prescott Public Library book sale and an entry into a grand prize drawing. Patrons who complete other challenges will also earn additional entries into the drawing. Grand prize winners will be contacted by July 31.
The Summer Reading Program is presented with funding from the Friends of the Prescott Public Library, with support from the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records.
