Eight performances in April brought the vision of Yavapai College Musical Theater Professor Benjamin Naasz to the Main Stage at the Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center for the first time as he reinvigorated a classic, The Sound of Music.
Drawing on his background in music, dance and stagecraft, his production slowly dialed up the stage lighting to translate the newfound happiness of Maria and the Von Trapp family as their connection solidifies and they take their stand against Nazi evil through the course of the play.
Immersive front and rear projections conceived by production specialist Gulliver Parascandalo boosted the magic of the stage direction while Amanda Moe and JC Lawler led a rotating cast of local performers who had the audience “Do-Re-Mi”-ing in the theater and all the way home!
