Set for Sept. 10.
The Youth Livestock Auction at this year’s Yavapai County Fair will be 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. The fair, one of the longest running fairs in the state, is Sept. 8 to Sept. 11 at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds.
The youth livestock auction is presented on the behalf of county youth who have invested their own time and resources to select, feed and groom their animals. Some animals take more than one year to raise. It’s a big investment.
You are buying these animals to support our county’s youth; this is not a discount pricing auction. This meat is local, high quality and you are helping future ranchers and farmers in our community.
Many local small businesses use this meat as customer perks, employee incentives and retention strategies.
Buyers can preregister (which provides special parking and other perks) at www.yavapaifair.com or register at the event. Buyers will receive an information package, which includes information on processing.
Animals may be bought for personal or commercial use. Large animal resells go through a list of approved resellers. If you don’t want the meat yourself, check “resale” on the paperwork when you register; we will handle the sale.
Bids are taken by the animal for small animals and by the pound for large animals (proxy bidding is available).
